Semolina Idli for breakfast recipe

Sooji/Rava Idli


Today people are always on the go.  We want everything instant and quick even our food.  So here I am sharing one of my favourite breakfast recipe of instant sooji/rava idli recipe .These idlis can be prepared under 25 minutes.  Sooji idlis are extremely light and  healthy.  Add veggies and make these idlis even more nutritious.  

SOOJI/RAVA IDLI


Preparation time  :  10 mins
Cooking time        :   10 to 12 mins
Serves                    :  12 to 14 idlis

Ingredients :
2 cups                    Sooji/Rava/Semolina            
1 cup                     Curd/Yogurt
1 cup                     Water
2 nos                     Green Chillis finely chopped
1tbsp                     Eno fruit salt
Salt to taste
Optional
1/4th cup               Grated carrots 
1/4th cup               Beans finely chopped 
1/4th cup               Peas 
Tadka or tempering
1tsp                       Curry leaves/Kadi Patta finely chopped        
1tsp                       Mustard seeds
1tsp                       Urad dal
1tsp                       Chana dal
1tsp                       oil/ghee

Method:
  1. Combine sooji/rava, curd, water, carrots, beans, peas, green chillis and salt. Mix well and keep it aside for 10 mins.
  2. Heat 1 tsp oil in a pan.  Add urad dal, chana dal, mustard seeds and let it crackle.  Then add finely chopped curry leaves.
  3. Pour the tempering over the rava batter and mix well.
  4. Add little water if required to adjust the consistency of the idli batter.
  5. Keep the idli steamer or cooker ready.
  6. Grease the idli moulds with very little ghee/oil.
  7. Before pouring the batter into the moulds add 1tbsp Eno fruit salt and mix gently.
  8. Pour the batter into idli moulds.
  9. Steam for 10 to 12 mins.
  10.   Serve hot with peanut chutney or coconut chutney..
