Choco coco modak is for all those modak lovers who are running short of time still want
to welcome Ganapati Bappa with his
favorite offering modaks. As the name
suggests the two main ingredients are chocolate and coconut. Making these modaks is very simple with very
few yummy ingredients and is ready in a matter of few minutes. I used a modak mould to shape them but you
can very easily do it with your hands too.
I bet kids are going to love these chocolate coconut modaks that they’ll be
gone like hot cakes but for us adults don’t forget workout a little extra!!!
Choco coco modak is a variation to traditional modaks which are either; steamed, fried or made with khoya. This same recipe can be used to make ladoos.
Preparation Time : 10 mins
Cooking Time :
1 min
Refrigeration Time : 30 mins
Serves : 6 large modaks or 12 medium
Ingredients:
·
1 cup desiccated coconut + 1 tbsp for garnishing
·
1/4th cup chocolate chips
·
1/4th cup condensed milk
·
3 tbsp roughly chopped nuts
·
Little oil to grease the mould
Method:
In
a microwave safe bowl add condensed milk and chocolate chips and pop it in the
microwave for 30 seconds. Mix well and again microwave it 15 seconds. The warm condensed milk will melt the
chocolate.
Add
desiccated coconut and chopped nuts to the chocolate and condensed milk mixture. The mixture should have a texture of wet
sand. If the mixture is wet, add little
more desiccated coconut.
Divide
the mixture into equal portions. Press each portion into a modak mould.
Unmould
the modak and cover the tip with some more desiccated coconut.
Chill it in a refrigerator to set. These modaks do
not have a long shelf life hence should be consumed in a day’s time.
